Due to the generosity of Elkhart County, we are one of Indiana’s largest community foundations with assets of more than $450 million. Since our inception, over $250 million has been granted into the community. We are made up of more than 660 charitable funds established by individuals, families, companies, nonprofits, and private foundations. Our capacity to serve the community is directly tied to our ability to preserve and enhance our financial assets.
In the calendar year 2024, the Community Foundation of Elkhart County:
- Received $27.9 million in new gifts from 1,245 unique donors in the year ending December 31, 2024.
- Distributed a total of 2,978 grants, amounting to $36.4 million.
- Granted $18 million from donor advised funds.
- Awarded $2.4 million in scholarships to students from Elkhart County.
- Achieved an investment return of 10.6 percent on the portfolio in 2024.
- Established 63 new funds during the calendar year.
