Our Hearts Are With the Greater Elkhart County Community
We are heartbroken over recent violence in our community. We mourn and pray for those impacted. We are grateful to the police and first responders.
In response to Monday’s incident at Martin’s Super Market, the Community Foundation of Elkhart County will use its Community Crisis Fund to help those impacted.
The foundation established this disaster relief fund in 2007 in response to tornadoes in Nappanee, and that fund continues to aid others. In the wake of Monday’s violence, the foundation is working with officials from the City of Elkhart, Martin’s, and appropriate nonprofit agencies to help with the grief and healing of the community.
The foundation will share funds collected with partners as they provide services to those impacted by the tragic shooting at the store’s E. Jackson Boulevard location. The foundation is not able to give money to individuals or families directly but is committed to sharing 100 percent of all the money donated.
The following agencies are offering services to those in need at this time:
Oaklawn — 574-533-1234 (24hr hotline), https://oaklawn.org/crisis-services/
