The Community Foundation of Elkhart County has named Ken Julian as its chief operating officer, effective July 1, 2026. The position was created by the foundation’s board of directors to strengthen coordination across the organization’s growing operations and support its continued mission of inspiring good in Elkhart County.
Julian brings more than three decades of executive leadership experience to the role. He previously served as senior vice president of administration and human resources at THOR Industries and as vice president of human resources at Keystone RV, as well as in executive leadership roles at Ascot Enterprises. He holds a bachelor’s degree in human resources from Bethel College.
As chief operating officer, Julian will provide leadership and coordination across the foundation’s operational and organizational functions, working closely with department leaders to support strategic execution and day-to-day effectiveness.
Julian has deep roots in the Elkhart County community through years of civic service. He served on the Community Foundation’s board of directors from 2018 to 2026 and currently serves on the boards of Elkhart General Hospital and Anderson University. He has previously served on the boards of the Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce, the Elkhart County Economic Development Corporation, and Horizon Education Alliance.
“Ken has been a trusted partner to this organization for years, and I am delighted he is willing to serve with us here at the foundation,” said Pete McCown, president of the Community Foundation of Elkhart County. “As our work has grown in both scope and complexity, this role will help us continue doing what we do best: serving our community well and investing in the people and systems that make that possible.”
Pam Hluchota served as COO of the organization from 2016 to 2018, making her the first to hold that title. She did remarkable work for the organization during a time of growth. The initial version of this release errantly stated that Julian is the first COO.
