SCHOLARSHIPS
Purpose
Established to honor academic excellence in mathematics among Elkhart County seniors.
Award
$3,000 per year, four-year award.
Eligibility
- Resident of Elkhart County (minimum of one year).
- Graduating high school senior.
- Successful completion of math honors coursework and notable achievement in math on the ACT/SAT.
- Pursuing a degree in mathematics or the sciences in a four-year program at any accredited college or university.

About This Scholarship
John G. Blakesley believed that mathematical excellence should be celebrated and encouraged. A lifelong learner and advocate for education, John established this scholarship to inspire students to pursue careers involving critical thinking, data, and precision.
His passion for numbers was matched by his belief in people—especially young people—who use math to solve real-world problems. He envisioned this award as a bridge for talented students to pursue meaningful futures.
The scholarship not only recognizes outstanding achievement but also fosters a spirit of discipline and inquiry in Elkhart County’s best math minds.
