November 9: Preparing for Your Annual Audit

[vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text]Did you know that not all charitable organizations are required to conduct an annual audit? Do you know if your organization needs an annual independent audit? Or does your organization need to simply prepare a different type of financial reporting?

There are a number of reasons why a nonprofit may decide to conduct an independent audit. One primary reason is to demonstrate your commitment to financial transparency, a practice that donors and the public have come to expect from nonprofits. Your Community Foundation wants to help ease the burden of planning for this type of engagement.

Join Audit Director, Shannon Borden, and Tax Senior, Rachel Sterling from our own audit firm, Blue and Company, as they share best practices to help you understand what independent audits are and help you prepare your nonprofit for this type of engagement.

Shannon and Rachel will also discuss nonprofit tax filings, including information returns (Form 990), payroll tax issues and property tax returns and the role of your board in the audit process.
