March 21: Fathers Matter Forum
Regional Event – Free to the Public
In the United States there are 25 million youth growing up fatherless. In Indiana, more than a third of children live in single-parent families and three-fourths of those are being raised in single-mother families, according to Indiana Youth Institute. In Elkhart County, 11.7 percent of the households are single-parent families, above the state average of 9.9 percent, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Read as local leaders speak about the fatherless situation here in Elkhart County.
On Tuesday, March 21, John Sowers will share information, offer practical insight and engage in discussion about how best to engage fathers and come alongside children who may not have one in their lives. Sowers is the author of “Fatherless Generation: Redeeming the Story” and “The Heroic Path: In Search of the Masculine Heart”. He is also the president and co-founder of The Mentoring Project.
